This airline’s new charger rule is implemented, keep the power bank in flight like this, otherwise you may face problem, know…

Southwest Airlines has implemented a new rule, under which it will be necessary to keep the power bank in front while charging in flight.

If you are going somewhere by flight for travel or work in summer and are thinking of traveling by Southwest Airlines, then this news is for you. The airlines have implemented a new rule regarding power bank and battery charger, which can make a little difference during your journey.

What is the new rule?

Now if you charge your mobile or any other device with a power bank in the flight, then you will have to keep that charger in front of your eyes.

That is, you cannot keep that charger under the seat or in the upper cabin.

As long as it is charging, it should be open and visible.

If you are not using the power bank, then it is absolutely fine to keep it in the bag.

Why was this rule changed?

This change has been made keeping in mind the safety of the passengers. Actually, many cases of fire from lithium-ion batteries have come to light.

According to the US aviation agency FAA, there have been 89 such cases so far in 2024, which include incidents of battery explosion or smoke.

This danger has also increased from mobile phones, laptops, vaping devices and power banks.

Strict rules already in place in other countries

Many Asian airlines like Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways already ban the use of power banks during flights. Recently, there was an incident of fire in a Korean flight, in which the roof of the aircraft was damaged and passengers had to be disembarked in an emergency.

What should passengers do?

1. If you are carrying a power bank with you, keep it only in the hand bag, not in the check-in luggage.

2. If you are charging it in flight, keep the power bank in front, not in the bag or in the overhead compartment.

3. If any device smokes or feels hot during the flight, inform the crew immediately.

4. Flight attendants are trained to deal with such situations.

Be prepared before you travel

Southwest Airlines is the first major US airline to implement this rule. More airlines may make similar rules in the future. So if you are going to travel with Southwest this summer, then keep this new rule in mind while using your power bank. This will keep you and other passengers safe and the journey will be comfortable.
