From Monday to Friday, Diana Kidisiuk goes to school like a normal child, attends gymnastics and judo classes. But as soon as the weekend comes, she becomes the star of the “Kids Diana Show”, the favorite YouTuber of children around the world. This channel has more than 135 million subscribers and along with this, it also has sister channels in 20 other languages, which garner more than 10 billion views every month.

Diana started YouTube in Kiev (Ukraine) at the age of just one year. In the first video, she was trying to eat a leaf, which was made only for friends and relatives. But when the video started going viral, her parents Olena and Volodymyr turned it into a full-time career.

Due to their experience in technology and marketing, they took the channel forward to a professional level. Settling first in Ukraine, then in Miami and now in Dubai, they are running a complete production house.

Olena gives content ideas, Volodymyr handles finances and the rest of the team shoots and edits the videos. Diana says that their aim is to entertain children and give some relief to parents.

According to “The Economist”, even though the style of the videos may seem homemade, this channel has now become a big business which earns around 10 million dollars (about Rs 83 crores) annually. Also, there are brand deals with big companies like Mattel. They have a huge fan following in America, India, Brazil, Spain and the Middle East.

However, Diana’s stardom is a bit unique, she is no less than a superstar among small children, but older people may not even know her name. When she goes out, fans recognize her, which makes her feel a little uncomfortable. Thousands of people line up to meet her at many meet-and-greet events.

Now that Diana is growing up, she has reduced her shooting to focus on her studies. But the work on the channel is still going on and her three brothers also appear in the videos now. Diana’s journey shows how the internet has changed the definition of childhood where even the tiniest of moments can reach millions of people and create a new world of digital celebrities.
